FAQs
When Colorado residents get curious about their heating systems, they call us. Here are some of the most common questions we answer about boilers:
How often should a boiler be serviced?
For optimal performance and safety, service your boiler every year. Our boiler specialists can check your unit for leaks and other safety issues. Maintaining your boiler can also help it last longer.
What are common signs my boiler needs repair?
A malfunctioning boiler often signals that it needs repair. If your unit makes loud clanking sounds, your pump may be broken. If you notice a rotten-egg smell, you could have a dangerously leaky gas line. Also, if your boiler won’t produce steam, you could have a damaged valve that needs fixing.
Should I repair or replace my boiler?
If you think you might need a new boiler, consider your current heater’s age and operating costs. If your boiler is mostly dependable and fairly new, repairs can be a good investment. On the other hand, if your boiler is unreliable and showing its age, it may be time to replace it.
How long does a typical boiler last?
A residential boiler typically has a 15-year lifespan. With regular tune-ups and proper use, some units can last for decades. Keep in mind, however, that a new boiler is usually more efficient and costs less to operate. If you want to save money on energy bills and use less fuel, think about getting an upgrade.
